It was an amazing week of energy, teaching and fun during Cave Quest VBS: Following Jesus the Light of the World (July 24-28, 2016)! We had approximately 70 children attend, some were visitors, and cannot thank our wonderful volunteers enough for all of their hard work.
There was a new theme/Bible point everyday. Upon arriving, the children went directly into their assigned groups at Sing & Play Rock where they sang songs, learned about the Bible Point, Scripture, Bible Story and Bible Buddy of the Day. Each group then rotated to the different stations, spending approximately 20 – 25 minutes before they rotated again. Stations included: Deep Bible Quest, Spelunker Sports & Games, Imagination Station, KidVid Cinema & Cavern Café and all focused on the theme of the day.
Our youngest attendees participated in Sing & Play Rock and then moved to their own room in Tad’s Preschool where they participated in age appropriate activities and games.
I am always amazed by the children that come to VBS each year. As one of the co-directors I never know what will be that one thing that will truly touch the hearts of each child or what they might learn. This year, one of the videos in the KidVid Cinema station was about children with cancer and a little girl willing to donate her hair to help make wigs for children that have lost their hair due to chemotherapy. I received a text from one of the mothers that made my heart so full, tears were streaming down my face. Her daughter (and one of my youngest Adventurers) was so moved by that video that she also decided to donate her hair. The Lord be praised!
We give thanks to God for the seeds He has planted in our little ones to grow their faith for years to come.
Our hope is always that we will see the same children in Adventurers this fall, including those that visited.
Adventurers is a club for children, ages 4-9 (Pre-School through 4th Grade). The purpose of the program is to support parents and care-givers in leading and encouraging their children in a growing, joyful love relationship with Jesus Christ.
It offers instructional curriculum, family enrichment, supplementary resources, and volunteer training from within the Seventh-day Adventist philosophy.
The Adventurer program should work to fulfill the gospel commission (Matthew 28:18-20) and depends on the support of a congregation strong in mission and empowered by the Holy Spirit.
