🥕 TVP Veggie Burger Patties

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP)

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon beetroot powder (for natural color)

  • 3 tablespoons nutritional yeast

  • 2 teaspoons food-grade methylcellulose

  • 1 cup water

  • Soy sauce, to taste

  • 1 teaspoon blackstrap molasses (optional, for depth & color)

  • Cooking oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Mix dry ingredients
    In a bowl, combine TVP, onion powder, garlic powder, beetroot powder, nutritional yeast, and methylcellulose.

  2. Hydrate and season
    Add water, a splash of soy sauce, and molasses. Stir until fully hydrated and thick enough to hold together.

  3. Form patties
    Shape mixture into evenly sized patties, pressing firmly so they bind well.

  4. Pan-fry
    Heat oil over medium heat. Fry patties for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown.

  5. Rest and serve
    Drain briefly on paper towels and rest for 1–2 minutes before serving.

  • Burger buns with fresh toppings

  • Wraps or grain bowls

  • Topped with sautéed onions or mushrooms
